Installing Chandelier

Lighting fixtures provide the ambience of premises and is especially true of chandeliers because of their prominence.

When one says chandelier, you are reminded of ornate lights with sparkling crystals. However, the terms include any ceiling-mounted fixture that hangs from a chain or wire.

In spite of the variety to choose from, installation of ceiling-mounted fixtures is similar regardless of the fixture style

In choosing a new chandelier, proper size is important. A chandelier should be chosen according to the size of the room

If the room is smaller than 10' by 10', a 17" to 20" diameter chandelier would be appropriate.

When the room is about 12' x 12', a 26" or 27" chandelier would look right.

For a room that is about 14' x 14', choose a 24" to 36" chandelier.

A chandelier should be hung about 30" from the surface of the table to insure you don’t bump your head into it and is of suitable height to give good illumination.

Ideally, a chandelier should be about 12" narrower than the width of the table over which it hangs.

Optimal wattage of all bulbs should be 200 to 400 to provide sufficient light.
